Microsoft Azure Time Series Insights update

We'll update this page regularly.

You'll be able to see the 'last updated' time and date at the top of the article.

(If you don’t use OnAIR analytics/reporting, you can disregard the rest of this information.)

We've emailed you some more information about the changeover from Time Series Insights (TSI) to Azure Data Explorer (ADX). Please see more background below.

What's the background?

  • OnAIR analytics in EventsAir relies on a Microsoft service called Azure Time Series Insights (TSI).
  • Two years ago, Microsoft advised that this service would cease on March 31, 2025, and we planned accordingly.
  • This timeframe was changed dramatically. However, we've been able to work with Microsoft and now have a solution.

On July 9 we released an update to allow OnAIR analytics data to continue to be collected and reported, fixed an unrelated OnAIR reporting bug, and added a feature to toggle off “undocking” for attendees using the OnAIR portal.

Data changeover period

Microsoft has just limited all data from TSI to 30 days, and will cut off TSI on August 31.

As part of the changeover from TSI to a new solution called Azure Data Explorer (ADX), we’re now in the ‘crossover’ period, where data is being sent to both TSI and ADX. This began on July 24.

In late August, we’ll complete the changeover to ADX.

After this time, data from July 24th will continue to build up in ADX, and by late October, a full 90-day data set will be available in the AIRCast Engagement view.

In the meantime, a rolling 30-day data set will be continue to be available in other reporting tabs in the OnAIR analytics dashboard, and in Export Analytics.  We recommend you save your AirCast Engagement data at a suitable frequency if you need 90-day data analysis before October 22nd.
